Traditional acupuncture, a three-thousand-year-old medical system, was first developed in China. Was since then practised in many eastern countries, becoming, nowadays, the treatment of choice of a growing number of people in western society. This due to its effectiveness and side effects free on resolving a wide range of both physical and emotional complaints.

The complex Chinese Medicine Theory behind Acupuncture sees pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance. The overall aim of acupuncture treatment, then, is to restore the body's equilibrium by regulating the flow of Qi (vital force).

Acupuncture is based on the principle that the body can heal itself. By inserting needles in specific acupoints the acupuncturist encourages the body to trigger its own healing response. Patients relax during treatment, often falling asleep, creating the perfect condition the body needs to heal.

ACUPUNCTURE

Before Shiatzu and Acupuncture, there was Tui-Na Massage. In fact, Tui-Na massage is a therapeutic form of massage that has been used in China for more than 5,000 years. Defined as “the ancient healing art of fingers and strength,” Tui-Na has been known as the grandmother of all forms of massage and bodywork that are practised nowadays, including shiatsu and osteopathy.

Gaining international attention for its safe and effective treatment for a wide variety of conditions Tui-Na massage differs from other types of massage in that it is e medical type of massage used to treat internal and external conditions.

It could be used as a lone-standing therapy and in conjunction with other forms of treatment. Tui-Na massage is suitable for people of all ages, from infancy to old age.

AUXILIARY THERAPIES

The Auxiliary Therapies of Cupping, Moxibustion and Gua-Sha are part of the repertoire of an acupuncturist. They have been used in China for Thousand of years.

We use Cupping and Gua-Sha to relax the muscles, draw pathogens up to the surface and out of the body, stimulate haematopoiesis (making new blood), and improve blood circulation.

Moxibustion, which involved the burning of dried herbs over the skin, has strong warming and nourishing function.

These therapies are powerful enough to form a treatment alone, however, results are often greater when used in conjunction with acupuncture and Tui-Na massage.
